A local media outlet has reported that the School Education Department in Punjab is contemplating extending the winter holidays by an extra week due to the harsh cold weather conditions.

It is worth mentioning that winter vacations in Punjab’s schools began on December 18 and are scheduled to last until the beginning of the upcoming year.

Nevertheless, in the recent days, there have been reports suggesting that the provincial government is considering adjusting the reopening schedule for schools due to the cold weather conditions.

As of now, the Punjab government has not reached a decision. In the event of the cold weather persisting, provincial authorities may find it necessary to contemplate adjustments to the school reopening schedule.

Furthermore, parents have advocated for an additional week to be added to the winter vacations and have urged officials to consider their request. They pointed out that certain private schools in the province have already made changes to their schedules.

They have explicitly requested an extension of the winter break until January 7. In response to the parents’ demand, the Education Department has communicated that a decision regarding the extension of holidays will be made following consultations with the government.
